Goals of the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC):

Ensure that all members of the Wildcat Battalion graduate.
Be active in community service activities.
Be involved in school service activities (i.e. Basketball Games, Supporting School Functions, and serves as the Color Guard for all major school and community events.) 
Compete and Win; as Wildcat Battalion Cadets, we take pride in how well we perform during competitions against other JROTC Programs. We have the following teams: Academic Team, Color Guard Team, Drill Team, and the Raider Team(Physical competitions).
To instill the self discipline necessary to succeed in life!!

Buckhorn JROTC Cadets are required to:

Display superior selfless service by participating in community service events, school events, and JROTC competitions.

In the JROTC program Participation is a major part of your overall grade.

Q: Will I have to join the Army if I enroll with the Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program?

A: No, the Army JROTC program is an elective course taught in High School. It has nothing to do with you joining the military. By being in JROTC you are not obligated in any way to the military. The mission of JROTC is to promote young people to be better citizens. This is a course that will help prepare you for life; academically, physically, and mentally.

Q: What is expected of the JROTC Cadets?

A: To be open minded and willing to learn. We expect for you to make mistakes, and to learn from them. Respect for everyone around you is a must. We try to teach you how to be a better citizen by teaching you how to deal with everyday life scenarios. We also want people that will try to better themselves. Participation in activities is also expected, these are experiences that will help you better understand different things in life. (examples: social skills, cooperation, communication skills, respect of yourself and others, and also learn the different aspects and points of view).

Q: What is required of me to join JROTC?

A: You must be capable of participating in Physical Training; you must be willing to wear a military uniform; you must be willing to participate in school and community service events as much as possible. You will be required to follow the instructions given to you by the Instructors and the Cadet Officers appointed over you.

Q: Are Junior ROTC Cadets required to wear uniforms?

A: Yes, when the Senior Army Instructor indicates or when taking part in special ceremonies. The uniform days will be posted on the website calendar.

Q: Why should I join the JROTC program?

A: If you truly believe that the JROTC program is for you, then you should join the program.  If you pay attention and try your best as a Cadet; you will learn how to be a better citizen, student, peer, and most of all, a better leader. The benefits of the program are endless, but a few of the most important are listed below.

Higher self-esteem; Physical fitness; Communication Skills; Responsibility; Opportunity; Friends; Computer Skills; Leadership Skills; Public Speaking Skills.

Q: What are some of the activities that I can choose to participate in?

A: There are quite a few activities that you can choose from; such as Academic Team, Raider team, Color Guard, Drill Team, service learning projects, and more.
